About the property Detached three-bedroom house with a gross floor area of 480 square meters located in Cristo Rei. Designed by architect Viana de Lima, this house uses a language that evokes Brazilian architecture, due to the sculptural treatment of the “butterfly wing” roof.
The exterior cladding, the large glazed openings that protect and symbolically mark the entrances, and the clear, open-plan internal layout reveal the spatial typology of the living room, which has double-height ceilings.
The rectangular floor plan organizes the ground floor through a wide succession of south-facing living spaces protected by the overhang of the slab. The vertical supports have very diverse configurations and layouts that do not interfere with the spatial and three-dimensional transparency achieved. This floor also houses an office/library, the kitchen, and a bathroom.
On the first floor, the bedrooms are arranged in a U-shape, enlarging the space of the hallway-staircase with a mezzanine located above the living room. Finally, the terraces and balconies individualize each of the bedrooms, creating a small green transition area to the outside.
The basement houses all the support areas for the house, such as the pantry, laundry room, service room, and other storage areas.
A remodeling study is currently underway by the architectural firm of José Carlos Cruz, which plans to create a four-suite villa. The layout of the ground floor remains similar to the original, with a social area consisting of a living room with a fireplace (57 square meters), a dining room (27 square meters), and a library/office (21 square meters), both with direct access to the garden, kitchen, pantry, and a guest bathroom. The upper floor has an additional bedroom, and all bedrooms are now suites, including the 26-square-meter master suite with a walk-in closet. The basement will be reorganized to include a 22-square-meter room, a full bathroom, a 17-square-meter laundry/pantry, and a technical area.
The outdoor area includes a south-facing swimming pool with a bathroom and a two-car garage.
Located in a prestigious residential neighborhood, close to shops, services, and international schools. Next to Avenida Marechal Gomes da Costa, the Serralves Museum, and a short distance from Parque da Cidade, Foz do Douro, and the sea.
