ESTORIL/SINTRA REGION

Being a former fishing village, Cascais has been discovered by the high-born as their election place for "sea baths". As a consequence of the railway line construction (Lisbon - Cascais), the "Linha", as it is designated, suffered a transformation towards an international projection tourism project.

With the advent of World War II, the axis Estoril - Cascais gave shelter to several Royal Families in exile and was transformed into the European elites' reference tourist and residential destination, comprising particularly a significant English community who continued living there.

In the waterfront zone that runs along the railway line, from Estoril to Cascais, we can find numerous examples of past decades luxurious residences. After "Boca do Inferno" (Mouth of Hell), a high rocks formation pounded by the sea waves, in the Guia area along the way to Guincho, and the Roca Cape (Europe's westernmost point), you'll find some of the most sophisticated and luxury residential zones, like "Quinta da Marinha". From here you can watch the magnificent Serra de Sintra (Sintra Mountain), well known by its Palaces and its soft microclimate, very appreciated by the past aristocracy. This is also a region that offers excellent golf courses.
